The Audit Act

The Audit Act establishes a framework for an independent audit office in Prince Edward Island. It gives the Auditor General the authority to operate as an officer of the Legislative Assembly. Having this independence enables the Office to offer impartial opinions, observations, and recommendations on government operations and management practices. It also provides the Office with the authority to conduct audits and examinations of provincial departments, Crown corporations, agencies, and funds.
