About Us
The Office of the Auditor General is an independent and impartial audit office. We serve the Legislative Assembly of Prince Edward Island, and we are not accountable to government. Instead, our role is to provide information and recommendations on government operations and management practices. Our vision is to be a trusted audit office that is valued by Islanders.
The Audit Act outlines the legal framework for our office, allowing us to conduct audits and examinations of provincial departments, Crown corporations, agencies, and various funds (including any public contractor or funding recipient who has received government funding).
The Legislative Assembly appoints the Auditor General for a 10-year term. The Auditor General oversees the work of the Office.
