Auditor General finds recommendations on Health PEI's Executive Leadership Team compensation addressed

Charlottetown, PE, June 4, 2026 - Following up on its Health PEI Executive Leadership Team Compensation audit, the Office of the Auditor General has found that five of six recommendations it made have been implemented, with one recommendation no longer applicable due to a new compensation framework.

The original 2024 audit report detailed issues with the payment of Health PEI's leadership team members. Auditors identified cases where salaries did not match the salary level assigned to a position's classification. They also found that employment contracts for leadership team members were not authorized as required. Six recommendations were made by the Office relating to position classification, appropriate approvals, policy awareness, and backdated employment contracts.

While the Office follows up on all performance audit reports, this follow-up process was completed earlier than usual given the significant changes made to Health PEI's leadership team since the 2024 report.
